So, aside from going out to Africa to see the work of The Solomon Project, and develop further relationships with the partners that help The Grand deliver the work they do, there are also reasons we are going.
Whilst
out there, we are planning to put together a series of short videos, to show
the daily struggle of children living in such desperate situations. As well as film a video of Thanks for everyone who has supported the Project to date.
To
highlight, that in any circumstance, whether it be in England or Abroad, no
child should have to suffer in such a way. Every human being deserves the right
to live with happiness in his or her hearts.
So, below is a bit of a sneaky peak to what's in store for you when we get home.
I am
often asked, why do you raise money for children abroad when there are similar
struggles in the UK. Well, in short, The Grand does. Providing support and
backing to the food bank initiatives and a whole host of other charities, too. Although, that's another blog post maybe.
However,
global citizenship is one that is a real passion of both the founders and the
employees. Showing people in the UK, the little changes they could make, can have a big difference on the lives of so many children.
With
the help of Mary’s Meals, we can feed a child in school for a whole year for
£17. When my husband and I go out for a meal, we probably spend double that, in
just one night. I’m sure a lot of you reading this blog do too. I mean, it makes the thought of a £22 Fillet Steak sound somewhat ridiculous.
Now,
to dispel any myths around the value of contribution that goes to the actual
charity, and the rest is being spent elsewhere, The Solomon Project is
different.
Every
pound that is donated goes straight to Eldoret, and ultimately in to the
tummies of the desperately hungry children who need it.
Now,
as I’ve said before, donating money isn’t the only way that you can help The
Solomon Project. I know myself, money is tight and sometimes £17 to you is what
gets you through to the end of the month. However, having a voice is free.
Speak
up, and share The Solomon Project with friends, family and work mates.
Child
hunger and deprivation should be something of the past.
Remember…
We might not change the whole world, but
changing their world is good enough, for now!
